Whose Justice?
I gave up on the news
When all you would hear
Were sensationalist views
That prayed on our fears
And buried the words.
To offer us proof,
As a means to an end,
They obscured the truth.
And many believed in what they said
No matter the cost no matter the dead,
They were taught it in church
They were taught it in school
That was the law, that was the rule.
On the day I left home
I left that behind.
I was never truly happy
But in the back of my mind
I found a small freedom
Beginning to grow
That caused me to ask
What do they know!
They don't have a clue
How lucky they are.
They take it for granted,
Where others must fight.
They talk on their phones
While driving their cars.
With God on their side
And might is right!
All that it takes
Is a lot of hard work
And make the best of
A few good breaks.
But try that one out
After wrenching what you can
From a ground dry and hard
With a plow in your hand.
After months of no rain
and your food has run out
And your crops have died
From the man made drought
And now you line up
In hunger and pain
Waiting your turn
For a few sacks of grain.
It's both people like these
Who have no idea,
And people like these,
If given the chance,
Will hate and be hated,
Kill and be killed,
Avenge and bring vengeance
But the cycle won't end.
The ignorance is so thick
To be used by the sick
Who hide behind Allah
Or hide behind God
In the name of the Devil
The innocent are slaughtered
In the name of love
All evil is conquered.
